This is a two-part assignment. There is a required (and long) textbook from which all information MUST BE CITED. I have attached the textbook as a PDF. I will also include a rubric; an example of how to write the case study in the first person; other examples of how to write case studies; and guidelines for personal case papers. MAKE SURE YOU REVIEW ALL OF THESE! Thank you!

A) Personal Case Paper
Write an approximately two page personal case paper with respect to your experience within an organization (the guideline to write case papers is in the PDF “Guidelines for Personal Case Papers”). Must be written in first person.
A great example of a case study written in the first person is included as “The Case of Chris Cunningham” 

B) Personal Case Analysis
Analyze your personal case using all four frames, devoting an equal amount of time to each frame and incorporating relevant theories of organizations into the analysis. The analysis should be approximately five pages in length (no more than 1200 words). Can be written in first or third person.
Steps to take in creating in your analysis
1. Use the structural, human resource, political, and symbolic frames to analyze:
a) What happened in your personal case
b) What alternative courses of action were suggested for you by each of the four frames. Devote equal attention to each of the four frames
2. Rethink your role in the case in light of the four-frame analysis. In other words, what would you now do differently if you could relive your personal case? Why? How useful were the four frames in helping you to clarify alternative courses of action for yourself in this case situation?

Common errors include the following:
1. Providing description of case events (what happened) rather than analysis of the events—good analysis tells why things happened.
2. Trying to discuss every single aspect of the case—it is better to write thoroughly about a few well-defined topics than superficially about many.
3. Making inferences and generalizations without providing data from the case to support the generalizations, examples to help define them, and/or theory references to ground them (for example, you might say that everyone in the case wanted “involvement” and “participation”—How do you know that? What evidence do you have? What do you mean by involvement and participation?).
4. Ignoring theory and writing only about opinions—good papers take a set of theoretical ideas and show how those ideas can be applied to some specific aspect of the case.
5. Ignoring one’s own interpretations and restating theory after theory from the readings—good papers use theory to support insights and to cast a new light on personal experiences and observations.

Expectations
Length: No more than five pages, double-spaced (1200 words) not including the two to three page personal case paper. 
Style: No need to follow the ASA/Chicago Manual of Style for this assignment. The personal case study needs to be written clearly in the first person. The analysis can be written in the first or third person. Use the case studies and analyses you have been reading up to this point as a model.
Difficulty level: This may be the first opportunity you've had to create a personal case paper and analysis; consequently, the assignment may be a challenge simply due to its novelty. You may also be unsure of which kind of organizational experience to use. You are welcome to use any experience in which you were part of an organization, whether paid or unpaid. 
Value of the assignment: This exercise is designed to hone your ability to apply what you've learned about organizations using an experience about which you are intimately familiar. Hopefully, you will continue to develop your ability to analyze a variety of organizations throughout your career and life far after you've completed the course.
