The ongoing civil war in Syria has displaced millions of Syrians since the conflict began in the year 2011 (The Week, pg. 4). The US and Texas have been taking many Syrian refugees since the civil war began. On November 13, 2015, Radical Islamists terrorist believed to be ISIS plotted a series of uncoordinated attacks in Paris that resulted in the dead of 130. Obama administration promised to accommodate about 10,000 refugees from Syria in the year 2016 (The Week, pg. 5). However, this has received a lot of opposition from leaders in the United States and Texas because of the attack organized by Islamic terrorist in Paris. Powerful leaders such as governors, presidential candidates, and congressional leaders have supported the motion that the United States should not accept to take Syrian refugees. Gov. Greg Abbott said it is of best interest not to take Syrian refugees because they pose a threat to the nation. There is no legal basis that bar nations from taking refugees. Therefore, the United States and Texas have no right to refuse to admit refugees to the country. However, United States have all the reason not to admit Syrian refugees because of the cost and risks these refugees might bring to America. Therefore, the US and Texas should not refuse to admit Syrian Refugees. However, America should selectively admit refugees who have been referred by the UN and are vulnerable and undergone through torture, victimization, as well as women and children (Collins et al., pg 14). America should also accept Syrian refugees who are of Christian background because they often found themselves to be the victims of assault from their Muslim counterparts in the UN refugee camps. These refugees should be thoroughly vetted before being admitted to the United States.   Works Cited "The Week." National Review 67.23 (2015): 4-14. MasterFILE Elite. Web. 9 Mar. 2016. Refugees do undergo alot of problems be it social, economical or mental. However, anyone anywhere should accommodate and pay homage to them ata any cost whether a refugee is from a different race, culture or ethnic group. In this case Texas or US should accept the syrian refugees and treat them as people seeking assylum from any other part of the world without discrimination
