Since the inception of forensic DNA in 1980, DNA testing has played a significant role in the field of criminal justice.DNA aids in the conviction of the guilty and exempting the innocent parties. It has also helped in the identification of individuals affected by the disaster. Traditionally few automated tools were used in DNA profiling (Butler, 2015). Fully automated DNA profiling has been recently introduced (Yang, Xie, & Yan, 2014). The instruments used integrates steps in DNA extraction hence providing faster results, additionally there will be a higher sensitivity and information content of a client, due to improvement in detection, sensitivity and higher informative content due to application of STR loci that supplement the genetic makeup’s and in-depth information on sequence and that analysis of alleles. Peer-reviewed journals help the future of forensic science at it aims to publish complete and reliable information on important topical that is related to forensic science discoveries that are composed of Genetics and DNA analysis, fingerprinting and techniques, environmental forensics, clinical forensic medicine, criminal case and developments in original research and review articles. Technologies for example Phenol Sem has helped crime laboratories to search for gunshot remains. Phenol Sem applies the use of dispersive spectroscopy to differentiate and characterise the gunshot particles. Additionally, alternative light photography technology detects the damages that were in the body before it surfaces on the skin. It also differentiates life and death for forensic nurses. This course improved my knowledge on scientific research, and on all fields, those apply to forensic science, it has also expanded my experience on the issue of judicial science method and improved my knowledge to guide and inform policy and practice in information science.
