The following deals specifically
with the issue of legalizing and or continuing the band on marijuana:
Now those in support of legalizing
marijuana in the U.S. have stated its no more harmful than cigarettes and or
alcohol (most such pro organizations have stated they believe it to be less
harmful, while opponents counter marijuana is in fact more dangerous and more
likely to lead to harder drug use than either alcohol or tobacco). Regardless
of the side you might take on this issue, proponents of legalization also
frequently say the same and or similar limitations which we as a society place
on alcohol and tobacco use could be imposed on marijuana use (e.g., health
warnings, a minimum age requirement, etc), in order to help regulate its use
(and or abuse by minors, etc).
The question here, is do you believe such restrictions would work if
marijuana was legalized and specifically why or why not?
Please realize you can be for
legalization and still believe such measures will be ineffective...and vice
versa. The heart of this question isn’t so much whether legalization is right
or wrong, but whether the argument surrounding placing limitations (if
legalized) has any merit or not
Note: Please remember, you will want to support your viewpoints via referenced
data and or referenced real life examples.
Ultimately
there is no wrong or right answer here (as there are clearly two conflicting views),
only supported and or non-supported viewpoints; for a graduate level class like
this, the former is always what’s expected.
Response
should be a “minimum” of 300 words (does not count restating the question) and
must include “at least” one properly referenced source (in accordance with APA
6th edition).
