Now compare and contrast how these two countries (Russia and China) went about "building socialism." (This mostly starts on p. 12 to about 19.) If you were teaching a class on the demise (death) of communism in China, how would you use this image (from 1993) to help your students think about this massive shift that started in the 1970s? There is no doubt that Mao and the communist regime killed, murdered and starved millions and millions of Chinese people. So nobody is crying that communism died in China.
