Teresa Ghilarducci explains in her book titled “When I’m Sixty-Four: The Plot against Pension and the Plans to Save Them”, how the American Policymakers can revive and make better the retirement benefits. The medical insurance system for the elder is not well-functioning, and the national deficits are soaring (Ghilarducci, 2008). She states that policymakers should save retirement by combining the necessary social, governmental and economic ingredients into a new and well-functioning retirement system. By combining the economic intelligence and political will to save retirement, the policymakers will provide the current and future generations a new blueprint through which they can maximize the social contribution and the well-being of the aged (Ghilarducci, 2008). The new retirement system will also spare the struggles of the spoiled current systems in society.
