ASSIGNMENT: Part I
Post a cohesive response to the following (*):
*Describe at least two credible methods one
can use to build his or her emotional intelligence.
*For each suggestion, articulate the pros and
cons of the method, including your analysis of the applicability of this method
as a tool to increase your own emotional intelligence.
*Offer an example of a time when employing one
of these methods might have allowed you to have a better outcome to a
situation. (Writer, I am not sure what method you will use, however, there
is a time that I really regret and believe I could have been a much better
leader. I lost control of my emotions during
a board meeting. One of my colleagues
did his best to mislead board members into believing that I not provided him
with the necessary information to complete his project report on time. He and
I had not been on good terms for some time prior. He has consistently made me
look like the villain in many meetings and I usually sit back and allow him to
do so. However, as a result of his
blatant ongoing lies, I could not take any more of his foolishness and I lost
it. Looking back, I did not self-regulate. I let my emotions get the best of
me).
*Based on the readings and your own research,
assess the extent to which you think that emotional intelligence can improve
leader effectiveness.
*Be sure to support your ideas by connecting
them to the week's Learning Resources, as well as other credible resources you
have read; or what you have observed and experienced.

Quibblo: Emotional Intelligence Quiz (REQUIRED QUIZ)
Result after taking quiz: Room for
improvement
Most of the time, you are aware of what you
are feeling and are also in tune with what others are feeling. You are fairly
good at communicating in an effective, conscious manner, and you are
comfortable showing love and compassion for others. You are also able to
express anger in appropriate ways, while being willing to admit when you are
wrong. You are generally good at staying motivated and following through on
goals, though sometimes setbacks can create feelings of doubt or confusion.
Although you have a good understanding of your
emotions and skills, there is always room for continued growth. You can build
on your strong points and identify areas where you can expand your emotional
intelligence whether that is self-awareness, conscious communication skills,
expressing certain emotions (such as anger, discomfort, or even love),
increasing your comfort with intimacy or some other area. Read through the
suggestions below and start with whichever one is most relevant to your need
