IMPACT OF CAPITAL STRUCTURE ON ORGANIZATIONAL CORPORATE PERFORMANCE IN DEVELOPING NATIONS-CHOOSE YOUR COUNTRY
The Project should focus on specific Nation/Country of Interest
The layout should be professional, with a short summary/abstract
• The report should be free from spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors
• All external quotations should be referenced appropriately
• All citations should be in accordance to the Harvard system of referencing and should be presented alphabetically
• Appropriate use of tables, graphs and Appendices
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
The Introduction Chapter would include (1) context information and theoretical framework (Background Information); (2) statement of the problem or gap in the research; (3) aims/objectives of the dissertation; (4) Research Questions; (5) Hypothesis to be tested (6) Research Scope; and (7) Significance of the study.
LITERATURE REVIEW AND RESEARCH QUESTIONS
Introduction: The introduction should identify the general topic, issue, or area of concern, thereby providing an appropriate context for the review. It might also establish the writer's reason for reviewing this particular body of work.
Main Body: The body of the review should summarise the individual pieces of work, and compare and contrast the approaches where it is merited. This can be achieved by, for example, presenting chronologically the development of the field. Alternatively a thematic approach can be used, whereby the key issues related to the topic are reviewed critically. This section should clearly focus on the topic being investigated and identify where appropriate the gaps in the literature, hence providing a justification for the proposed study.
Conclusion: The conclusion should summarise the major contributions of the prior research, maintaining the focus that was established in the introduction. It should evaluate the current "state of the art", and explain the rationale for the focus of the study. It should clearly state the research questions that will be addressed in the study.
Themes What are the key concerns, themes, ideas?
Structure How is knowledge on the topic structured and organized?
Issues What are the major issues, debates about the topic?
Problems What are the main problems that have been studied to date?
Ensure that the review of the literature, use the Harvard Referencing Style for in-text citations and citations in the list of references (i.e. avoid plagiarism).
The literature review should be properly structured. Ensure the following questions are answered in the literature review: (1) Are different themes covered in different subsections (e.g. theoretical issues? methodological issues? results of previous studies?). (2) Is 'advance labelling' used to indicate how the literature review will unfold? (3) How does the literature review conclude? (4) Does it manage to show how your present study fits in with work discussed in the review? That is it should inform your research questions and objectives
In your writing you need to link the arguments to your research questions or aims at appropriate points within the chapter
• Clear understanding of research design principles
• Synthesis and critical review of the literature relevant to your topic, with evidence of further reading
• Explanation of your intended contribution to the literature
• Research questions that follow clearly from your analysis
• Ethical considerations that are grounded in the relevant literature, with outline proposals to mitigate ethical risks
• Clear summary of the research proposal, literature review outline and ethical considerations
Please avoid long sentences. To improve your writing, you may consider: 1) using a sentence to communicate just one point; 2) using a paragraph to communicate an argument; 3) using a sub-section to communicate a sub-theme; and 4) using a section to communicate a theme.
Literature should be appropriately synthesized to develop arguments. Arguments should be appropriately linked to the research problem.
METHODOLOGY AND DATA ANALYSIS
• Clear understanding of research methodologies
• Synthesis and critical review of the methodological literature, with evidence of further reading
• Understanding of the potential problems with data collection and methodology
• Evidence that you have reviewed existing data sources and options for data collection
• Clear outline and justification for the proposed methodology, including proposals for data analysis, appropriate use of tools, and visualisation methods
• Clear summary of the methodology and data analysis
.The Dissertation must include the following headers:
1) Dissertation title
2) Introduction to the research topic and main research question
3) Literature review outline and detailed research questions
4) Ethical considerations
Applying research methodologies to your research topic
5) Methodology
6) Data analysis
7) Results
8) Discussion
