• Works cited at the end of your essay. (Not included in Word count.)
• Use any citation style (MLA/APA/Chicago) as long as it is consistent.
• You will not lose or gain points for writing more or less, so long as your submission stays within 1500-2000 words. 

Prompt: 

Compare 2 films from the course in relation to the themes of the course.

Use at least three of the mandatory readings from the course to help develop your argument. 

Your overall argument should examine how specific aspects of the films or texts intersect  with course themes that could include ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, race, otherness, refugeeism, and other structures of identity. How can this film be seen in context of theoretical concepts on (im)migration, refugeeism, multi-culturalism, the diasporic, transnational, intercultural for example. In the essay, try to cover different themes/keywords/issues/ that you have engaged with in the course, to demonstrate your range of expanding knowledge of concepts, terminology and understanding of the subject. You may consider social, political, cultural, historical, technological, environmental  and/or economical contexts to enable a deeper discussion on the film as a cultural text. 

Note: The readings provide a theoretical context for your analysis. Use them as a lens to analyze the film. Choose a combination of films and readings that enable you to present an argument that addresses a thematic aspect of the course in a meaningful way. A personal voice and style is encouraged, however ensure a balanced approach to the study, avoiding personal bias as far as possible.

Do’s and Don’t for all assignments

Do’s:

• Closely read all the related materials that you need for your film analysis. 
• Write in a confident and engaging style. Consider yourself a scholar and critic in the context of this course.
• Be analytical in your approach and justify your statements well  by using examples, and quotes to support your argument.
• Connect course materials (film and readings) to larger theoretical and analytical themes. 
• Communicate your argument balancing personal opinion, lived experience and personal opinions with objectivity as far as possible

Don’ts:

• Absolutely no plaigiarism will be tolerated. It can result in failure in the course and serious consequences. Translating content from other languages to use in your post is also considered plagiarism.
• Don’t spend a significant part of your assignment, in summarizing or describing a film’s story, scene, plotline or characters. This information is easily available online and does not constitute a critical reflection. 
• Don’t make sweeping generalizations or pass judgments without research, argument or justification.
• Don’t overuse quotes. Your assignment should not include more than 20 percent of quoted material.  
• Don’t leave out any of the required materials from  your analysis.
• Don’t filling your response with fluff to meet the word count, also, don’t go under the word count.
