Book review

In his book, Van Klinken presents the controversial subject related to queer and creative practices, which facilitates the advancement of LGBTI practices in Kenya. As an activist for HIV gay activists, the book brings out the vulnerabilities and strengths of the queer group in an African country with a substantial Christian following. The stories of real people that decide to have hopes in their unique way amidst stigma and condemnation associated with belonging to the LGBT, which is highly condemned by Pentecostal churches in Kenya.

The LGBT try to fit in a society that condemns what they term as their freedom, source of hope, and happiness. Despite condemnation from the Christian Pentecostal churches, the LGBTI community members still claim some spiritual space in Africa. During the meeting, the writer attends Uhuru Park (Kenya).
