Culture entails a set of rules or norms, beliefs, values, objects, behaviors as well as other traits that are accepted by a group of individuals as their own.  The need for cultural awareness cannot be disregarded as culture forms the core of human being existence. It is a vital component of cultural competence.  It creates the foundation of several other elements like skills, attitudes and even knowing that we acquire through a lifetime.  It is known as the foundation of communication among human beings.  Cultural awareness provides us with the capacity to put ourselves aside and acknowledge our cultural beliefs, values, and perceptions (Quappe & Cantatore, 2017).  Thus cultural awareness plays an important role in soldier’s life and are thus required to have extensive cultural expertise, understanding and awareness to perform effectively at their work.
