Many social media tools are of great importance to nurses and other healthcare professionals. These social media tools include blogs, microblogs, and platforms for social networking and sites for media sharing such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap Chat among others. The use of these tools can be of great importance in fostering one's career, improving patient care and public health programs. Despite the risks related to the use of social media in the nursing profession, healthcare institutions have enacted guidelines for reducing them through the limitless potential and unexplored potential (Peck, 2014). This paper discusses some of the advantages of social media.
