Due to globalizations and enhancements in technology, the world is getting smaller as people can interact among themselves. It has allowed people from various ethnic, racial, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds to work together, communicate to one another and travel from one nation to another. When people meet and interact, they take their cultural experiences with them. Through this, it is important for people to comprehend cultural diversity hence have cultural awareness.  They will respect one another regardless of their culture. Cultural awareness will also increase an individual's sensitivity to the non-vocal and non-physical styles of communication hence ensure that people live in harmony. In this paper, I will, therefore, describe the meaning of culture and the major characteristics that define culture. I will also describe socio-cultural awareness of India.
