and to develop theoretically informed recommendations.
This essay will examine the following course objectives:
1 Examine the historical and current social welfare and health trends and systems in Australian
society, including key sectors such as health, disability, aging, housing, justice, and employment.
3 Identify and analyse contributors to health and wellbeing, resilience, vulnerability, and
disadvantage in social groups
6 Describe and critique key debates to identify trends within society that pertain to health and
social welfare.
This essay enables a student to develop specialised knowledge of a particular area of social
wellbeing in Australia by understanding its historical and contemporary practices.
