announcements will be made through HuskyCT and email. Please pay close attention to both. If you have a question about the course, I am
available through email, during office hours, and after class (however, time is
very limited after class, so if you have more than a quick question, it’s best
to see me during office hours). I will
be in my office more than my office hours state, so please do not hesitate to
contact me and set up an appointment (or just drop by if you prefer). If you have a question about any given
grades, you must see me in person as it is a violation of privacy laws to
discuss grades over email. Email is not
a private or secure method of communication.
Course Format:
This course will
be broken into lectures (Monday & Wednesday) and “discussions”
(Fridays). You should have enrolled in
both in order to be in this course. The
lectures will meet in ARJ 105 and will include all students enrolled in the
course. Each student is also required to
enroll in one discussion section on Friday.
These will occur at various times and at various locations on Fridays
and will include only about 25 students each.
It is your responsibility to attend and participate in both the lecture
and your discussion section.
Course Description:
This course is
designed to examine the role of research in communication. We will discuss how research is done, what is

research methods – both quantitative and qualitative

calculations of basic statistical tests
·
