The case of chapter 17 is a case on a huge problem that has been going on for years now, unauthorized immigration. The main point on the case although is unauthorized immigrants working at Chipotle Mexican Grill Restaurants.  The case would start by mention to us how did all this happen, all started in May,2011 when federal immigrants agents descended on dozens of Chipotle and they were interviewing employees and managers about their authorization of working in USA. However the case would mention a little history about how Chipotle came to live, in 1993 by chef Steve Ells.  Also the case would describe at it the steps that immigrants have to go through so they achieve a working permit and a green card. Low-skilled jobs were more likely to be presented by unauthorized immigrants and they get paid less amount of money and are victim of wage theft. In 2008 under George W Bush as a president ICE agents deported and arrested hundreds of workers who were unable to produce authentic work papers. Under Obama’s administration they were conducting audits, checking businesses to make sure that they weren’t hiring unauthorized workers. But Chipotle was not the only employer targeted, also American Apparel in L.A terminated about 1800 undocumented workers in 2009. Chipotle however in a report on 2011 made it clear that even though they are trying their hardest to not have illegal immigrants working there, which might still be a problem, and might bring them into subjects as a fee-s or penalties.

1.           Other than employers, which stakeholders are helped and which are hurt when a business hires unauthorized immigrants? 
2.           Do you agree with the public policies and enforcement strategies described in this case?  If not, what changes in both would you recommend?
3. Do you agree with Chipotle’s response to the government’s enforcement effort? What else should Chipotle’s managers do now, and why?
