Health Care Policy

One of the recent health care policies to be implemented in the US health care industry is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The policy is concerned with compliance to information security practices among hospitals, healthcare organizations, and large medical facilities. Small health care providers in the US are facing several challenges in complying with the HIPAA policy. Given that more than 60% of the physicians in the US practice as small healthcare provides, the challenges they face place the implementation of the HIPAA policy in jeopardy across the nation (Chen and Benusa, 2017). The challenges faced by small healthcare providers in complying with HIPAA are majorly influenced by their limited understanding and capacity to implement information security practices, create security policies, or perform risk assessments.
