The Middle East is a region that is economically diverse with different economic development stages that are important. It also has natural resources making it a suitable place that would attract several nations. The US interest in the Middle East is not only limited to the economic ties but also to create peace with nations such as Pakistan. The US first created commercial ties with the Middle East during the 19^th century which led to formation of successful ties with the Oman and Muscat Sultan. Another major occasion which the US was interested commercially in the Middle East is when it wanted to control the energy resources in the Middle East which led to the signing of the Anglo-American Petroleum Agreement in the year 1944. This agreement became a great success as the US managed to take control of the Middle East Petroleum for two decades (Gelvin, 2015).
