1.   What are the three primary informational goals a hostage negotiator strives for in a hostage situation?

 First, a hostage negotiator will strive to win the safety of all the hostages. Secondly, in the absence of hostages the negotiator will coerce the individual with the sole mission of arresting and submitting him to the law enforcement agencies without incident. Thirdly, he will strive to mitigate harmful impact regarding the threat to external parties. External parties in this case mean a third party and or the property. Moreover, the negotiator will ensure that unauthorized persons do not access the area. Entry of authorized personnel may result to the escape of the hostage taker or injury of the third parties (Hasselt, Romano & Vecchi, 2008).
