Summary

In the video titled Saved by our Language-The Story of the Navajo Code Talkers of World War II, the narrator has traced back on the story of the Navajo people and the way in which the code in which they used as a language managed to save them. The narration begins at the beginning of 1942 when things were bad for the America plus their allies. The Japanese people had used their borne bombs to cripple the US Navy and had attacked their bases in Guam and the Philippines. The Japanese had an intention of taking over the island bases in central and south Pacific. On the other hand, in Europe, Germany had taken over France while the Nazis were still terrorizing the Britain who also was still recovering from the previous year bombings.

According to the narrator, the US Armed Forces was still having a major complex problem related to communications. The Japanese cryptographers were known for breaking top secret codes for the military (Scott, n.d). They had such skills that would enable them break even the newer codes that had just been devised. These Japanese code breakers received training in the US where they learned how to speak English thus were familiar with majority of the colloquialisms that Americans used including the profane words and slang terms. This placed America at a risk of the enemy who could find quick workable solution to defeat them using their way of communication. The producer of the video showed how many Americans lost their lives as bodies lied on the battle fields.
