Edgar Allan Poe

American literature was mainly reflected through the great American romantic period.  It is stated that the period of romance was ideally depicted in the sense of excitement, flowering over the possibilities of humans and the rather higher respect for one’s ego. Individuals considered to be romantics were highly influenced by the work of literature that came years before them. Essentially, their writing can be deemed as to take a form of revolution against the different existing ideologies of yester years. It would be evident that American romanticism would grow from different aspects including rhetoric of guilt, Puritanism that took the nature of providential visions, fiery rhetoric of equality and freedom, and finally the rhetoric of the broad and wide wilderness reaches of the American continent.

One of such writers who belonged to the era of American romanticism is Edgar Allan Poe. Poe is known as a distinguished author, poet and literary critic of past times. Even though he passed away a long time ago, his works of literature are still being studied at different levels of education in different parts of the world. For reasons mentioned in the paragraph above, American romanticists, including Poe, had acquired the drive and passion for creating characters that were distinctly unique from the ones in British literature. This was one of the reasons that caused Poe’s literature to gear towards becoming individualistic and defiant in nature. His literature works were therefore of exceptional and remarkable creativity across all genres.   Poe’s remarkability went beyond the normal proportion which has made him become the most popular American Authors of all time. It is for this sole reason that this paper will attempt to analyze the distinct ideas and aspects of literature that profoundly molded Poe’s works of literature to depict a strong and unshaken voice of literary messages up to now.
