Loyalty in Hamlet

In Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, the protagonist is defined as a deluded young man with a lot of worries in his mind that tend to highly influence the actions that lead to his eventual death and the deaths of other people that surround him. The plot of the play is cast in Denmark, with Hamlet being a prince, whose father was the King of Denmark. Prince Hamlet comes back from Germany to attend his father’s funeral. At night, in the confines of the Castle, Hamlet comes across a Ghost of his father that tells him of the unfortunate set of events that led to his death. The circumstances that Hamlet finds back home and the information from his Father’s Ghost leads him to contemplate a set of events that will lead to the death of many people including his own (Frye, pg. 35). Hamlet is, therefore, a soliloquy that tends to show the cowardice and loyalty or lack thereof that guides the actions that lead to the spiteful state of events.
