A stakeholder is defined as a person who is directly or indirectly affected by the efforts of an individual organization, group, company or firm. Also, the people who have an effect on the efforts of the group, organization, business or company can be described as stakeholders. However, there is a comprehensive definition of the term stakeholder. In broader terms, a stakeholder is a person who has a strong influence or impacts or interest in the efforts of a given body for either political, religious, philosophical, educational reasons even though they may not be directly affected by it (Carroll, 2014).

To get the essential characteristics of a stakeholder. It is important to now of the categories of stakeholders. The types of stakeholders are mainly three in number. One of the types is the primary stakeholder. A primary stakeholder is a person who is directly affected either in an adverse or beneficial way by the efforts of a certain firm, organization, a company of business. They are in other words the ones who feel the effect first hand. For there to be primary stakeholders, there must be secondary ones too (Carroll, 2014).
