-------Excerpt-----------------------
Aging
entails gradual loss to most body organs especially those of the sensory system.
Normally, the effects of aging are manifested when people are about 50 years
where they starting using bifocals, turn up the volume on the radio or
television and also consider adding reasoning to increase taste to food.
However, the immediate aging effects should never be assumed particularly on
the vision, hearing, smell as well as touch. As nurses, we should closely
monitor the sensory organs of patients and educate them accordingly on how to
cope with some of the aging effects they may encounter.
The effects of aging
are quite drastic as they hinder individuals from recording maximum output in
their daily activities. Research by Kawamoto
& Kiyak (2015) has shown that aging affects the vision by reducing the elasticity of the eye lens. Identification
of closer objects among these individuals becomes a problem because the objects
appear blurred to them.
