You are required to identify and apply a suitable decision-making process and use it as a framework for decision making. The ‘chosen set of information’ is the material used in the production of the group video completed for assignment one.

In order to satisfy the requirements of this assessment you are required to:

Describe how decisions were made by the group and discuss whether a recognised problem-solving/decision making framework(s) was/were utilised. Explain why the framework(s) was/were chosen. (40%)

•       As the location was decided by our lector we had to justify why this is the ideal location for the customer (the location is Segro East Midlands Gateway)

•       We used a PEST analyses for the location

•       STAR method –STOP-THINK-ACT-REVIEW

•       Nominal Group Technique

•       Understand the target group

•       Each member had their own task and make their own decision

•       There were few decisions that were made by the group

Discuss whether the chosen process assist in achieving a positive outcome (was the group able to satisfy the requirements of the task set for the first assignment)?  If so, how?  If not, why not? (30%)

·         The group were unable to satisfy the requirements of the task as we did not create a video as requested because we did not communicate effectively with the members of the group. We did not setup clear deadlines and instructions and there was lack of motivation and interest for some of the members.

If you were to do the first assignment again what would you do differently in relation to problem-solving and decision-making processes and how would this make a difference?  (30%)

·         Choose a leader of the group

·         Setup meetings and deadlines for different tasks

·         Keep the lecturer updated with our progress and the problems that we face

·         Follow all the requirements

·         This will help us to create a video and be able to solve the problems that will appear during the process. 

(Note:  The assignment is about problem-solving and decision making and not about group work itself.  Whist it is recognised that group-work will influence what was done regarding the video etc., and some discussion and citation/referencing on this is acceptable, the emphasis of this assignment must be on problem-solving and decision making).
