Johnson vs. coke Stevenson
This election was identified as one of the elections that brought trust issues with the voters. Lyndon
B. Johnson was seen as one of the presidents that began his career through fraudulent means. It is evident that
his journey to the president's chair was acquired through the injustices that occurred over Coke Stevenson.
Therefore the 36th President of the United State acquired his first Senatorial seat through unclear
circumstances. It was clear that the process of ballot fraud was a common practice during the late 1940s.
However, Johnson's campaign in 1948 took ballot fraud to a new level. These new levels were identified by the
elections Judge however it had more implications on society than the political perspective.
His determination of wining at all cost brought new perspectives over the election process. We can
identify that the process of overcoming 20,000 vote deficit showed how much election fraud was acceptable
in the political system. This made sure that his victory in 1984 Democratic runoff against the former
Governor Coke Stevenson was viewed with a lot of suspicion. These elections clearly identified his
determination to win the race at all costs. It also identified his coolness under fire and his ability to select
lieutenants that would aid him in achieving his goals. He identified lieutenants with skills that ensured they
could manipulate the various constituents and the election officials.
The 1948 Texas Senate race brought to view the character and personality of Johnson. Its evident that
no one really knew what happened what happened in the identified election. It was clear that everyone does
it and this was evident through the brazen thievery identified in this election.
