In the 1870s, American humanists such as Winslow Homer and Thomas Eakins rarely portrayed African
Americans involved in their daily events.it is essential to preserve our history for the future and this can be
achieved by engaging in artistic work or taking photos just like Thomas and Winslow. The Griffins book
inspects the ways in which artist and opponents pursued to construct a new uniqueness for America for the
period of the era coined as the gilded phase for of its leader's flavor for affluence (Griffin, Homer, Eakins, &
Anshutz : the search for American identity in the gilded age). The prevalent acceptance in the white's
superiority art led the two artists and their audience to look to the ancient realm for legality. The rich never
fixed contradiction amid the sovereign and natives. This paper mainly focus on examining the art work that
change the American history.
In the 19th century, of all Americans, Winslow was the most vibrant, varied and colorful with the extensive
range of subject and style (Griffin). Winslow matured up in the American artwork subjugated by
romanticism by their enormous panoramic canvases. Most of his treasured teaching came from his
knowledge as an illustrator, which trained him in what manner to perceive and how to record relevant forms
and activities accurately and swiftly. From boyhood, Winslow reserved a passion for his nation. He adored
fishing and hunting, and he was born a nomad. During summer months, he furnished resources for his
original illustrations and paintings. He decorated the epics of the forest and sea.Winslow had an inherent sense of ornamental values, and he comprehended consciously or unconsciously
that shapes, lines, and colors were not only means of signifying authenticity but they can also give direct
opulent pleasure. Homers effort was at first regarded quite radical by the opponents. They never understood
why his color was so unusual and why he did not worry to finish his portraits like those of French
impressionists. Homers canvases were the cleanest expressions of that complexion graphical sensuousness
that remained one of the greatest vital components in his paintings (Johns and Homer). Homers fashioned
