Distribution, Warehousing and Inventory Functions Warehousing is an essential part of business supply chain. Supply chain is composed of distribution and procurement of goods from the manufacturer to customer. It consists of production of materials into finished goods, storage of goods and the distribution to the final consumer. Warehousing functions includes storage of goods to allow the flow of products to ensure longer production. It also serves as point where products are mixed. Additionally, it is a sales point and a place to serve customers, its also an area of supplies for production and final packaging (Rushton, Croucher, & Baker, 2014). On the other hand, Distribution consists of duties associated with channels of information and physical flow of goods. Its functions is consist of planning and control of supplies, purchases, reception of materials, physical management of materials, storage and supplies handling.
