Abstract

Most organizations are gearing into corporate responsibility as a way of improving their employees satisfaction. This paper will investigate whether there is a link between corporate social responsibilities and improvement of employees satisfaction. The paper will incorporate the literature review and theoretical framework in the study.

Introduction

In contemporary organizational management, the issue of employees satisfaction is significant. Most organizations are applying different strategies in an effort to improve the satisfaction and the well-being of human resources. One of the approaches used by the organization is Corporate Responsibility. According to McWilliams, Corporate Responsibilities entails all actions by organizations, which aim at contributing to social welfare, other than for profit maximizations. These actions are aimed towards the organizations stakeholders other than the shareholders. Stakeholders in this regard include employees, the community, and suppliers. In accordance with Wang, Tong, Takeuchi, & George (2016), the issue of corporate social responsibility has been growing in organizations since its introductions in the 1960s. The main idea concerning corporate responsibility has been to improve workers satisfaction. This move is to enable organizations to achieve their goals. Owing to the fact that most contemporary firms aim at improving the well-being of human resources, any approaches that could answer these issues is usually applicable. However, according to Wang et al (2016), there has been criticism on the application corporate responsibility to address issues beyond shareholder value. Furthermore, the main debate concerns the benefit of corporate responsibility for job satisfaction. The main issue as per critics is that corporate responsibilities result in job satisfaction, but it is insignificant. Corporate responsibility is a common practice among contemporary organizations, but with conflicting opinions concerning employees satisfaction.
