I thought that the attached article might be a springboard for furthering our discussion related to transfer of learning. While I found there to be many interesting things in the article (and the reference list may provide a road map for further searching), the following questions came to mind.

* Is there a difference between education and training? Does it depend on the "field" where the terms are used? Is it merely a terminology/definition issue?

* Why might "active learning" be important as far as transfer occurring? What is required for active learning to take place? What are the benefits of active learning?
