Describe a personal situation that you considered stressful. It does not have to be a major life event or your "most" stressful event; any stressful event will suffice. Analyze the situation with respect to the information presented in Taylors chapter by responding to the following statements/questions. Be sure to reference material from the lesson to when doing so.

a.) Comment on how you appraised the stressor.

Include both primary and secondary appraisals (the primary appraisal is an assessment of how threatening and negative the event is; the secondary appraisal is an assessment of your available resources in the face of this stressor). How might you have appraised it differently so that it could have reduced the stressfulness? Or describe a different appraisal that might not have been as effective; explain why.
b.) What dimensions of the situation itself contributed to its stressfulness?

Was it a negative or positive event? Explain.
Was it controllable or uncontrollable? Explain.
Was it ambiguous or clear? Explain.
Was it related to overload? How?
Was it related to a central or peripheral life domain? Explain.
c.) How was timing involved?

Was the stress associated with anticipation?
Were there aftereffects? What were they?
d.) Did you notice any physiological effects?

Did you eat more or less? Did you experience physical symptoms like headaches or stomach pains?
e.) Did you notice any "psychological effects"?

Did you have difficulty concentrating?
Did you snap at your friends or loved ones?
Did you sleep more or less?
Did you smoke more?
Did you exercise less?

This paper should be 3 to 5 pages long, typed in Arial font, size 12, with 1.5 or double spacing, and 1" margins. Do not include the questions in your reflection; rather, write it as one comprehensive, flowing paper. Be sure to reference Taylor and/or other research to support your personal experience. Please note that writing style and proper usage of APA format will be considered in your grade.
