Despite leaders constantly experiencing failures in their approach, they can still demand respect and loyalty from their subjects. Respect and loyalty are not gained as a result of the performance by the individual but due to interaction with the individuals in the organization. The performance of the leader will win him or her recognition but not loyalty. Therefore, even if a leader does not experience success in the way of doing things, he or she still has an opportunity to gain loyalty and respect.

Being a leader comes with a certain level of respect that is automatically accorded by the followers. Therefore, all the individuals under the leader are expected to show respect and loyalty since they are above them in the pecking order. Despite the poor performance by the leaders, the followers take instructions from them hence the need to show respect. Besides, the followers are required by their profession codes of ethics to respect and offer loyalty to those above them. The subordinates in the organization set-up are supposed to respect their leaders; this is because the leaders are responsible for their career growth and development. Moreover, the leaders are tasked with recommending the suitability for the employees suitability in handling special duties within the organization.

Due to the experience and the time of service the leaders have provided to the organization, the subordinates ought to respect their elders since they can learn several critical aspects of doing things and in the process increase their efficiency. Notably, becoming a leader requires an individual with unique attributes. Hence the followers are expected to respect and accord them unwavering loyalty. Respect and loyalty are not correlated to the performance of the individual rather than the relationship natured.
