Over the course of the 17th and 18th centuries, Europe endured a series of intellectual movements, namely the Scientific Revolution and Age of Enlightenment. The latter promoted concepts like inalienable rights, and intellectual equality, but at the same time, nations like Britain, France, and the Dutch accelerated the transatlantic slave trade to unforeseen heights. Indeed, this trade was minute in the 1500s in comparison to what it became in the 18th century. 

This week's material introduced you to two very different account of the transatlantic slave trade. On the one hand, you have Equiano's account who was a slave himself, and on the other, you have the perspective of slave trader named Willem Bosem

For this prompt, focus your first entry on the following instructions/questions: Briefly describe Equiano and the slave trader's accounts. Contrast their views (how are they the same, how do they differ?). Who are their intended audiences? Finally, who do you think is telling the truth and why?
