1. Clearly identify a major turning point in the history of modern propaganda that lends itself to counterfactual analysis.

2. Justify the historical plausibility (or lack thereof) of your scenario. For instance, what if The Battle of the Somme (1916) had never been filmed? is a very plausible scenario; what if Hitler used alien mind control technology to brainwash America in WWII? is not a very plausible scenario.



3. Discuss the consequences and/or historical repercussions of your counterfactual scenario. What would have happened in the short term? What would have happened in the long term? How would the counterfactual scenario you propose have changed history if at all? What does it suggest about the nature of propaganda? What does your counterfactual scenario suggest about history itself? For instance, does it suggest that all of history pivots on human agency? Or, does it show that economics is the most powerful determinant in history? Or, does it suggest something else entirely?

4. Make your post a minimum of 250 words. Make sure your post is grammatically correct and that there are no spelling errors.

5. Respond briefly to the post of at least one other student. Don't just say that you like the chosen scenario discussed by that student... specify why!

6. Complete your post and response by 11:59 pm on November 15th. Due to the time-contingent nature of this assignment, late submissions will receive a grade of zero.
