Statistics refers to the science that helps study and develop methods used to analyze, collect, present, and interpret empirical data (Hill, Lewicki & Lewicki, 2006). Statistical research is considered interdisciplinary in that it applies to different fields of science as it influences the development of a new theory or even a statistical method. For instance, behavioral science involves using statistics in psychology to simplify the tedious collection and analysis process when handling a large amount of data. Consequently, statistics guidelines inform behavioral science researchers on the handling and presentation of extensive data. The use of charts and graphs helps ease the understanding and inference of the identified data (Hill, Lewicki & Lewicki, 2006).
