The Puerto Ricans despite modernity have certain
beliefs, which form part of their culture. Respeto
is part of the belief among the Puerto Ricans, where they try not to transgress
any member of the society. To Puerto Ricans, every person has intrinsic
dignity. The universal principle among the islanders is that a person must
learn to respect other people by respecting themselves. In this respect, the
population believes in obedience, hard work and self-assurance as part of
Respeto. Additionally, Puerto Ricans believe that the act of socializing
children in society is the role of a woman. This scenario is prevalent even in
the families with the presence of a male figure.
Additionally, Symbols
form part of the Puerto Rican culture. For example, it is uncommon to see the
population there clapping once the plane has landed on the runway. Applauding
is a thankful gesture that the aircraft has landed safely. Food also for part
of the Puerto Rican culture as traditional foods like mofongo, asopao, or tostones forms part of the dinner table
of the inhabitants of the island. Lastly, Puerto Rican language forms part of
its culture as, despite the fact that Spanish is widely spoken, some of the words
and phrases are exclusively for Puerto Ricans. For instance, Puerto Rican uses china as the color of orange, while for
other Spanish speaking countries is naraja.-
