Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary condition that has an effect on the digestive system and the respiratory system. The organs where the diseases primarily presents include the kidneys, the liver, the pancreas and the intestines. The condition is characterized by the secretion of thick mucus that obstructs lungs and other target organs. Cystic fibrosis presents with symptoms such as difficulties in breathing, coughing up thick mucus and frequent lower respiratory system infections. Other severe symptoms of the condition include fatty stool, clubbing of the toes and fingers and potential infertility in the males (Esther et al., 2019). However, it occurs that most people have different degrees of symptomatic presentation when they have cystic fibrosis.
