The topic of this paper is the Death Penalty, which is no small topic in the way of academic papers. Most are either for it or against it.



Your first task is to provide a summary of the history of the death penalty in the United States and where it currently stands. If you follow the United States Supreme Court, you know they have been busy with decisions regarding the death penalty (may be useful to discuss).



Lastly, explain why prosecutors still seek the death penalty as a form of punishment for those who commit heinous crimes and why some prosecutors do not. Use this as an opportunity to share your opinion of how and why prosecutors might reach that recommendation.



You must use at least two academic sources in this paper and please cite them in a work cited page. 

This paper should be between 3-5 pages, double spaced, APA style format (no abstract page needed).
