1. Kinbacher, Kurt.
"Immigration, the American West, and the twentieth century: German from
Russia, Omaha Indian, and Vietnamese-urban villagers in Lincoln,
Nebraska." University of Nebraska- Lincoln (2006).
The article
examines the experiences of the immigrants in American West during the 20th
century. First, the author acknowledges the fact that the American West is both
geographically and culturally diverse. People from various regions of the globe
co-exist together in the states of the American West. Nevertheless, the article
limits its examination to Lincoln, Nebraska. Lincoln experiences an influx of
newcomers as from mid-20th century. The group that formed the highest number of
newcomers included Germans from Russia, Vietnamese and the Omaha from India.
The first groups were the Germans and arrived in Nebraska in 1876, followed by
Omaha Indians in 1942 and later the Vietnamese in 1975. A combination of
political, social and economic factors led to the movement of the newcomers
from their home countries. Although the natives welcomed, they avoided their
foreign cultures which led to prejudices and discriminations. Hence, the
immigrants experience in Nebraska was abject discrimination and prejudices from
the natives.

Utah Press, 2014), 363-381." (2014).

immigrants. The focus is majorly on the Italian diaspora that occurred in 1880
and the First World War. These were probably the first Italians to settle in
America’s west. According to the article, the West was both a fanciful
