The article explores the conflict that Dr. Barrett has recently had with his husband concerning female hormones that leads to menstruation. Dr. Barrett notes that despite her studies on the nature of emotions in a significant part of her scientific career she never believed that women systematically were predisposed to emotional eruptions during their pre-menstrual phase. Barrett (2019) quoted studies that suggested that women tend to retrospect when asked concerning the premenstrual syndrome, especially when they believe in it as they consider it more severe than it was. Barrett admits to politicizing the views presented concerning the connection between PMS and neurological reason with the view that her previous boss and her husband have stone Age reasoning.
