In one’s life, there always comes a times when an individual has to reconcile his own personal beliefs with those that are associated with them, in regards to family for the need to attain self-awareness. This ability to attach authenticity in a manner that concerns our true self or sincerity to our origin is what directs one person to define themselves with a given identity. However, with the advancement of technology and increased globalization driven by increased migration, there is a new threat to authenticity by effluence of by other cultures. On the backdrop of this, this paper will delve into the nature of authenticity and its relation to identity through the analysis of these two articles; Family Values by Rodriguez-Richard, and , An American Childhood by Dillard-Annie.
