Introduction

In this discussion the primary interest is to analyze the economic questions, policy relevance, data and estimation methods, main results, policy implications, and internal and external strengths and weaknesses in the three articles. The first article, Canada's Immigration Selection System and Labour Market Outcomes by Sweetman, Arthur Warman and Casey raises the economic question: what are earnings and employment outcome differences in the immigration selection system of Canada. The economic outcomes of the Canadian labor market is high influenced by the country’s immigrant cohorts. There is need to address on how to effectively reverse the declining economic outcomes enhanced by immigrants units over the past few decades. The immigration selection system in Canada has directly resulted in the continued increase in poverty level leaving the Canadian economy in a deplorable state. To counter the effect of the influx of immigrants in Canada, some fundamental policy changes have been implemented and is still ongoing (Sweetman & Warman, 2012).
