     What are the conflicts in "The Story of an Hour"? What types of conflict (physical, moral, intellectual, or emotional) do you see in this story? What are some symbols in "The Story of an Hour"?      Every story must exist in a certain time and place, and we refer to the time and place of a story as the "setting." How does the setting of "The Cask of Amontillado" change as the story progresses?  Why do you think Poe chose to bring together in this story the dreariness of the catacombs and the festival atmosphere of the carnival?  What elements of the setting in this story would you consider typical of a horror story? The doctor calls the girl a "brat" in paragraph 22 and again 32, but "brat" has a different tone in these two paragraphs.  Reread the paragraphs then answer the two questions below:

The doctor, the parents, and the girl all seem worried about the daughter’s fever in their own way.  In your opinion, which one seems the most worried, what do they do that reveals this, and why are they so worried?  Defend your claim in 5-10 sentences by using specific details or quotes about what the characters do or say as evidence
