Madden and Joshi’s article titled What Does Culture Have to Do with Teaching Science, tries to analyze the existing relationship between human cultures and how we learn science in school. The authors use the concept of plants growth to explain how the perception of student about plants from their cultural beliefs can be used to improve their comprehension of the concept. The basis of this approach is that when students can capably relate their cultural beliefs with the scientific concepts in class it improves their overall understanding of the systems in today’s society.
