Reflection paper on Street Fight-Cory Booker and Sharpe JamesThe street fight film was directed by Marshall Curry in 2002 during the mayoral race in Newark, New Jersey. I can clearly clarify that the film was centered around the campaign on Cory whose intention was to bring change into the city. This idea was not accepted by the residents. On the other hand, Sharpe saw this change by Cory as a way of deviating from his long-standing presence (Kraus, 2004). To me, this differences was perpetrated by looking for power and everyone was supposed to fight the other in all means possible. I can affirm that Booker’s campaign definition was around bringing new power that can be derived from the people themselves to their elected officials. He went to grass-root levels campaigning day and night from house to house. I can depict how he made a real relationship with the neighbors since he knew for one to win, it is not through the media but campaigning on the streets. Both of the two contestants were African Americans, the issue of the race set in as “black politics”. It is clear in the documentation that James accused Booker claiming that he was a white republican and I can say this happened because Booker had a strong support from the African Americans and the influential white republicans.  [Show Less]
