Introduction

A global leader is someone who can be trusted to lead or to manage a multinational corporation effectively. There have many discussions by the business leaders in the world on how to acquire competent global leaders and how to develop them from middle-level careers. Global leadership require people who are competent and can help the multinational corporation achieve their international goals. In the cross-cultural management topic, there is the perception of the qualities that one must have to be considered as a potential or real transformational leader. There have been a lot of controversies about the necessary attributes of good global leaders and the factors that influence the effectiveness of transformational leaders. The two articles in this discussion will give us an insight of some of the perceptions that may help us to decipher the concept of global leadership. The first article in this discussion is ‘The Attributes of an Effective Global Leader’ by Sylvia Ann Hewlett and is has explained the competencies that good global leaders should have.
