Introduction
In this discussion, we are going to look into the
analysis of two articles regarding fast food addiction. The first article is
titled “ (Moss, 2017),” by Michael Moss
(2017, pp. 471-495) and the second article is titled “Fast food addiction-the
junk enslavement,” (Arumugam, 2015). The two articles give in-depth research on
addiction of junk food by incorporation of effective methods in gathering their
research. Michael Moss has used the method of literature review in coming up
with the findings contained in his article. In the second article by Arumugum,
the author has adopted the method of direct questionnaires to collect
information. The data from the questionnaire was
then entered in MS excel sheet and then
analyzed by use of SPSS software.
Summary and Analytic Discussion
Michael Moss was motivated to engage in case of study after discovering the reality of
the statistics of the rate of obesity in the United States. The statistics show
that one out of the three adults in
America is clinically obese, and 23 million Americans have Type 2 diabetes (Moss, 2017). In this article, the authors have
conducted case study by talking to more than 300 hundred people in or formerly
employed by food manufacturers. The case study aimed to assess the level of
junk food addiction at the results indicated a continuous trend in increase of demand for fast foods. In the
second article by Arumugum the addiction
of fast food was self-accepted by 39% of those who participated in the study
which the results from the questionnaire showed that the commonness of junk f
