Historical Sources Analysis
This is mainly a self-directed project that can draw from various presentations, discussions, videos, and readings that we've experienced in our history course, and/ or other resources that you may wish to include.
The project includes seven deliverables:
Construct two graphs that interpret historical data.
Construct two tables that interpret historical data.
Construct two timelines that interpret historical data.
Construct a short essay in which you evaluate one primary source and one secondary source. Note that sources should both relate to a single historical event. To build a quality essay, you will need to include several paragraphs over the course of at least 3 double-spaced typed pages. Avoid any plagiarism! Cite your sources. Remember your Six Traits of Writing. Be sure to address each of the items in the list below in regard to each of the two sources:
A. What are the author's main points?
B. What are the purpose and perspective of the source?
C. Does the source contain fact(s), opinion(s), or both? Which predominates?
D. How are the authors' viewpoints similar or different in regard to the historical event to which they are both related? How is your view of the event similar to or different from the viewpoints of the authors?
E. What is your view of cause and effect related to the event(e.g., what led to the event, and what the event led to)?
F. How sis at least two factors related to the event(e.g., people, institutions, places, ect.) change over time or how have they changed since the event?
G. How do you rate the credibility and validity of each of the two sources?
Please remember your Six Traits of Writing and the importance of making points (theses, mini-theses) and proving them with evidence. Thank you!
