Effectiveness of United States Elements Overseas From the attack of terrorist that happened in September in the year 2001, the United States launched a global war on terrorism. The country then decided to form a National Strategy to fight terrorism not only in the United States but also in overseas. It was during the administration of Bush that the state declared its goals towards the terror attacks. It was basically to prevent attacks against citizens and other nations around the world. This would hence promote peaceful coexistence between the nations since people will be able to carry out their activities with no fear of being attacked. In this paper, I will hence describe the effectiveness of the use of political, military and social elements of the United States to be actively involved in overseas missions as a response to prevent terrorism. The element of the military has been effective in preventing terrorism in overseas missions. Through its intervention, it has greatly shaped the battle on terrorism and aided in determining the outcome of preventing the attack. The goal of military intervention has been to kill all the terrorists, terminate their companies and eradicate their ability to carry out terrorist activities in the overseas nation. The administration of Bush established an aggressive path of the United States that sought to defeat and destroy the terrorists overseas. It is evident from the sentiments of President Bush, where he said that "we do not have to face them in the United States" (Landau et al., 2004). Furthermore, the officials of the United States have seen that investing in the military to curb terrorism overseas is a critical tool to remove weak regimes and stop terrorist groups from the ruling. In this case, the United States decided to assist the National Unity Government that is found in Libya to conduct airstrikes which are against the will of ISIS. For instance, the United States carried out drone strikes in Yemen against al Qaeda from the year 2010. This has hence helped in preventing terrorist attacks in other nations, and the country is greatly recognized due to its great steps. The political element of the United States has correspondingly been effective in preventing terrorism in overseas missions. According to Jenkins (2010), through the leadership of President Obama, a small change was provoked at the premeditated level. As the nation continued to fight against other jihadist groups including Taliban in Afghanistan, President Obama carried out the airstrikes, drone strikes as well as Special Forces processes in Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan and Libya (Enemark, 2011). This was to prevent terror attacks in the any nations planned by the terror groups. The social element in the United States has been effective in preventing terrorism in overseas missions. The nation has invested greatly in the relationship it has with other nations. Reshaping and remaking the Middle East is a good example of the attempts the nation has made to find out the ultimate solutions to terrorism. Under the leadership of the president Bush and Obama, they both claimed that terrorism originated from unhealthy economic and political systems, and they will hence settle in weak states who are not able to govern their territory. The leaders have therefore carried out campaigns to overthrow the terrorist supporters and instead inspire the development of well-behaved nations. Furthermore, President Bush, in his leadership, called for democracy in countries found in the Middle East. He promoted democracy to act as a foundation of war on terrorism. (Bush, 2009) In this case, he believed that democracy could be able to offer the change that is necessary to reduce the fundamental terrorism conditions as well as solving the issue of Islamic extremism. The United States has then identified that democracy is the long-lasting solution to fight terrorism and one way to achieve continued security in the nation. In general, it is evident that the United States has been effective in preventing terrorism in overseas missions through the political, military and social elements. It has dedicated itself to fight the terrorists and promote democracy in the nations. However, despite the fact that other people claim that the United States has not been effective in its elements in preventing terrorism overseas, i would say that they have done their best. Fighting terrorism is nothing easy, and through its commitment, it has promoted the peaceful coexistence of people in their countries. The United States should then be appreciated and supported by other nations and organizations in the world. It is because the number of terrorist attacks in various parts of the world has increased rapidly, and it has become difficult for the United Nations to ensure that all the nations facing the threats are safe. In this case, critics should stop their negative opinions and promote the efforts made the government of the United States through its elements. References Bush, G. W. (2009).
