Both Medicare and Medicaid program by the federal government to provide health care to the less privileged. In the case of Medicare, the health care fund is provided for the elderly above the age of 65. Medicaid is a fund set aside for low-income persons and families. From the definitions, it is clear an elderly and from a low-income family could be a beneficiary of both funds. The Medicaid is offered on the grounds of an individual's income while the Medicare is purely on age terms. Medic aid offers more priority to children than adults. Medicare is purely federal government while Medicaid is a joint affair between the federal government and the state government.
